AFTERHOURS CARE
CIVIC has various healthcare options available to patient’s afterhours, weekends or if we are closed. If you are in need of healthcare when we are closed, please view the options below for further care.
CIVIC afterhours service
Our phonelines operate Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. excl. weekends and public holidays. Should you contact us outside of these hours, your call will be redirected to our afterhours service. A nurse will be available to triage your symptoms and advise the best plan at the time. Please note that our afterhours service is a separate entity who operates independently from CIVIC and will not have access to your notes, test results etc.
Healthline
Healthline offers FREE 24/7 health advice over the phone. If you or a family member are unwell, and you’re not sure what to do, call Healthline. Your call will be answered by a registered nurse who you can talk with in confidence about any health issues you may be worried about. The nurse will ask you some questions then offer you advice on what to do next. Healthline is available to all ages and interpreters are available on request. Contact them on 0800 611 116
Local pharmacy
Pharmacists are qualified to provide advice and treatment for; Athletes Foot, B12 injection, Constipation, Cold Sores, Coughs and Colds, Conjunctivitis for those aged over 2 years, Contraceptive pill, Covid vaccinations and antivirals , Dry skin, nappy rash, small patches of impetigo (less than 3 areas), abrasions, bruises, insect bites & sunburn, Emergency contraception, Head lice, Mouth ulcers, Pregnancy vaccinations, Pain relief, Piles, Flu vaccinations, Hay-fever, Sore throats & earache for less than 3 days, Smoking cessation, Thrush (between ages 16 to 65), UTI (between ages 16 - 65, not pregnant), Warts & verruca’s. Urgent virtual care - PracticePLUS
PracticePLUS is available weekdays from 8am - 10pm and weekends + public holidays 8am – 8pm. They offer same day virtual appointments to patients.

Marlborough Urgent Care Centre
The Urgent Care Centre is available for patients with non-life threatening, short-term illnesses or health problems who cannot see a GP. It is open 8am - 8pm daily. Patient parking for the Urgent Care Centre is in the car park in front of the centre.
Located on Wairau Hospital Grounds. Entry is off Hospital Road, Blenheim. Open from 8am – 8pm, 7 days a week. Contact them on 03 520 6377 for more information
Emergency Department
Wairau hospital Emergency Department is a public health service that operates 24/7 for urgent life-threatening emergencies. Should you or a family member need emergency medical care, please visit them on Hospital Road, located at Wairau Hospital, Witherlea, Blenheim. if you are unable to attend in person and are suffering from an urgent medical event, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding or pain - please contact 111.
